I gotta say, Wendell Say, is a class act both on the football field and off.
He's the "dean" of OIA football coaches having been the headman at Aiea since 1992. Lasting that long is amazing when you think of all the hours he puts into the job.
Say coaches his Na Ali'i team in character building first and getting wins second.

It was about 10pm, 30-minutes after Kapolei's 29-10 loss to Waianae when I ran into Kapolei head coach Darren Hernandez.
He had just finished up a quick team meeting and had a bundle of game jerseys in a bag. "Now I get to do team laundry," Hernandez said with a laugh.
I guess that's one way to get another tough loss out of your system. Wash it away.
But actually it's only one small part of how he and his staff move on.
